1: Ahmadinejad to Turkish PM: « your anti-Zionist approach is a source of happiness and satisfaction to the world’s nations » – In his meeting with the Turkish Prime Minister in Tehran, the Iranian president said that Erdogan‘s clear position against the « Zionist regime » influenced the world, particularly the Muslim world, « in a very positive way, and had undoubtedly been a source of satisfaction for the nations ». Ahmadinejad also stressed the need in accelerating joint projects and agreements between the two countries.
2: Anti-regime rally at the Open University of Tehran – Some 2,000 students of the South Tehran Branch of the Iranian Open University (a.k.a Islamic Azad University) attended a rally held in the campus, in which they chanted anti-regime slogans and demanded to cancel the harsh punishments imposed on activist students. A similar protest was held in Khaje Nasir Toosi University of Technology in Tehran (see film).
3: Official: « Iran’s future nuclear plan relies on nuclear fusion; certain countries should not have a monopoly on this technology » – After having achieved a complete cycle for producing and processing nuclear fuel for power plants, Iran says it is set to move toward obtaining nuclear fusion technology. Speaking to Fars news agency on Tuesday, secretary of the Scientific Cooperation Council of Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency, Behzad Soltani said: « nuclear fusion is the future plan for the global nuclear energy, which can provide energy for human beings for at least 7,000 years ». Referring to global efforts to obtain the know-how, Soltani said several years have passed since the start of the project on the global stage. « Currently, industrial countries of the world are seeking to finalize this project and commercialize the nuclear fusion technology. We believe that certain countries should not have a monopoly on nuclear fusion; therefore in the Atomic Energy Agency along with other nuclear technology plans, we are moving toward nuclear fusion and we make every effort to speed up this process », he added
4: The Pentagon allocated US$ 55M for launching a « soft war » against Iran – Fars News claimed that the US Pentagon’s budget for 2010 included US$ 55M allocated for the purpose of penetrating into Iran by fighting the blocking of anti-Iranian websites, providing guidance to anti-regime Iranians in order to prepare a « velvet revolution », building a special Internet-like network for the post-election rioters, providing guidance about establishing news websites etc. According to Fars News, this budget allocation would be submitted as a bill named « The Censorship Victims in Iran Act ».
5: Deputy Commander of IRGC’s navy: « the precision of Iran’s marine missiles is almost at 100% » – Ali Fadavi, the Deputy Commander of the IRGC’s navy, said during a seminar of navy experts and researchers, that the use of new technologies, the fruit of Iranian researchers and scientists’ efforts, puts Iran among the few countries whose watercraft-fired missiles are almost 100% accurate. He referred to the Israeli statement that its vessels were equipped with the most advanced alert systems saying: « the Israelis stated the same about their Merkava tanks, but we saw massive destruction of these tanks by Hezbollah in Labanon ».
6: Turkey will invest US$ 4B in stages 22-24 of the South Pars Project – Talks between Iran and Turkey led to a decision about a Turkish investment of US$ 4B in stages 22, 23 and 24 of the South Pars oilfield project. Iran had previously set an ultimatum to Turkey to take a final decision about the investment. The Turkish PM’s visit to Iran settled the issue and finalized the negotiations.
7: Iran will export 1.5B m3 of natural gas to Switzerland in mid-2010 – According to a radio report Iran will deliver the gas to Switzerland through Turkey. An official added that the second phase of gas exports to Switzerland will start in 2012 and will reach 4 billion cubic meters. (Iran Radio, October 27).
8: Not only in France Telecom! An Iranian farmer steeped in debts committed suicide – A 55-year-old Iranian farmer took his own life due to his poor economical condition resulted from the severe drought that struck Iran in the past year followed by devastating cold waves. The farmer lost a great deal of his property and was unable to settle his debts.
9: Head of the Passive Defense Organization: « the Fordo nuclear facility near Qom is protected against any kind of military threat » – Gholam Reza Jalali, head of the Passive Defense Organization, referred to the infrastructures of the newly disclosed uranium enrichment facility « Fodro » near Qom, saying that « the site is protected against any kind of military threat on behalf of Iran’s enemies« . He said this facility was one of the sites built in coordination with the Passive Defense Organization, and all rules of safety and protection had been strictly followed. He concluded by saying that Iran was always subject to threats by enemies, and therefore the nuclear sites were built according to new construction plans with special attention given to security.

10: Pakistan’s border guard arrested 11 Iranian soldiers who entered the country illegally – Pakistani sources maintain that they are IRGC soldiers, despite denials by Iranian Television.
11: Head of the Fruit Exporters complains losses because no gasoline has been delivered to ships and vessels exporting fruits
12: HQ for countering contraband goods: « 12 million liters of contraband fuel are exported from Iran daily » (E’temad, October 26)
13: Iran’s representative to OPEC: « China can’t ignore Iran’s oil; excluding Iran from the oil market is not so easy » – Mohammad-Ali Khatibi, Iran’s representative to OPEC, commented on increasing Chinese petroleum imports from Arab countries by saying: « China will not endanger its energy security by restricting its imports to few countries. It can’t ignore Iran’s oil, and excluding Iran from the oil market is not so easy.
14: Prisoners took over one of the wards in Iran’s most infamous prison, Gohar Dasht – According to reports coming from Gohar Dasht prison in Karaj, prisoners at the isolation cells started a collective protest against torture methods they were subject to. The prisoners managed to take control over the ward for several hours. The reports say the wardens confronted the protesting prisoners, two of them being injured.
15: Thirteen youths arrested for pertaining to « satanic cults » – Iranian security forces arrested 13 youths in the city of Oroumye for being members of a « satanic cult » and spreading its ideology.
16: Five million websites censored in Iran
17: Iranian sociologists: « the sexual behavior of Tehran’s married men is ‘unrestrained’ compared with that of singles » – According to a recent research conducted in Tehran, phenomena of unrestrained sexual behavior are more common among married men than among single ones. Nevertheless, early adolescence and the rise in marriage age cause a 20 year gap between puberty and marriage, while religious jurisprudents do not offer any solutions to sexual issues of adolescents. All these cause « indecent and immoral relations among youths », according to sociologists. The researchers argue that this phenomenon is a « social hazard enhanced by Western influence ».
18: Thirteen youths arrested for pertaining to « satanic cults » – Iranian security forces arrested 13 youths in the city of Oroumye for being members of a « satanic cult » and spreading its ideology.
19: Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi: « the root cause of violence lies in the Wahhabi seminaries » – The grand ayatollah condemned the wave of « blind terror and assassinations » in the region, saying « their roots lie in what the Wahhabi religious seminaries teach their students, and how they are made to believe that all non-Wahhabis are infidels and can be killed » (Khorasan, October 24).
20: Another Baha’i arrested in Yazd – Soheil Rohani Fard, a 44 year-old Iranian citizen from the Baha’i minority, was summoned to the Intelligence Ministry in Yazd and arrested upon his arrival there. He was sent to an unknown place. His brother Behnam had been arrested ten days ago.
